For its 13th edition in the summer of 2025, MOMENTUM will be a sonic biennale, a celebration of sound and an exploration of the connections between Moss's natural and cultural worlds.
Morten Søndergaard, an internationally acclaimed sound art curator, has been named as head curator for MOMENTUM 13. With a career spanning academia at Aalborg University in Denmark and international exhibition curation, including at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Roskilde in Denmark, Søndergaard brings a wealth of expertise to the forefront. “MOMENTUM 13 will resonate across five zones of sonic encounters that pick up the hidden and quiet, silent, and invisible; the excluded and disappeared places, processes, and objects. Through participatory listening, visitors will be offered opportunities to reflect on sound as a means of social, historical, personal, cultural, and natural construction of meaning,” he explains.

This edition will also be the first led by Galleri F 15 and MOMENTUM’s new director Lise Pennington. Previously Chief Curator and Interim Director at the ARoS Aarhus Art Museum in Denmark, Pennington notes: “We have long aspired to connect our audiences with the world of sound art. We are therefore thrilled to announce that Morten Søndergaard, an expert in the field, will be curating the next MOMENTUM biennale, together with an advisory group encompassing a diverse range of expertise. We can't wait to welcome visitors, and share both deep insights and immersive experiences in the realm of sound art.”
MOMENTUM 13 will take place during the summer of 2025, from 14 June to 12 October, in Moss, Norway.
