This new contemporary-focused edition will showcase 50 to 70 local and international artists in the city’s Jio World Garden from the 13th to the 16th of November 2025.
The event will be led by Jaya Asokan, director of India Art Fair Delhi. She states, "We are thrilled to bring a fresh contemporary art and design fair to the thriving cultural scene of Mumbai, home to many of our long-term exhibitors, partners, patrons and visitors. The appetite for art in India has grown significantly over recent years, and this is the perfect time to launch a bold new fair focussing on the contemporary moment.”
On the global art calendar, the dates of the India Art Fair Contemporary are likely to coincide with the third edition of Art Mumbai. Asokan believes they will be collaborative and told The Art Newspaper that the “two dynamic fairs” will mark a “major market moment for Mumbai.” Art Mumbai’s co-founders, Minal and Dinesh Vazirani, don’t seem as enthusiastic about the overlapping dates and said they “do not understand the logic” and “doubt the business sense of the decision.”
Despite the differing opinions, the launch promises to be a significant milestone in India's contemporary art scene.
