Artists Unveiled for the Aichi Triennale 2025

Article
The full list of artists and groups for this year’s Aichi Triennale has been announced, featuring 60 artists from 22 countries and territories. While the majority are from Japan, the Triennale also highlights strong representation from other parts of Asia, the Middle East, Africa, the Americas, Oceania, and Europe.

Since its inaugural edition in 2010, the Aichi Triennale has emerged as Japan’s leading global arts and culture festival, bringing together local and international artists, curators, and cultural figures to create experiences that blend visual and performing arts with educational and community-focused elements.

Taking place from the 13th of September to the 30th of November 2025 in the host cities of Nagoya and Seto City, the 6th edition of the Triennale, titled A Time Between Ashes and Roses, will be curated by Artistic Director Hoor Al Qasimi, President and Director of the Sharjah Art Foundation. The event, taking its title from the Syrian poet Adonis’s A Time Between Ashes and Roses (1970) will explore “geological views of time rather than immediate national or territorial perspectives”.

Reflecting on the selection of artists, Al Qasimi stated: “I am excited to work with such a strong line up of artists for the Aichi Triennale 2025. Through the exhibition, we will delve into the complex issues emerging between humans and the environment, exploring them from a myriad perspectives through diverse artistic practices. Art, as a multifaceted form of expression, is deeply intertwined with various societal challenges. By engaging with art and reflecting on the world around us, we may uncover new insights and potential solutions to our pressing crises.”
