This September, the NIKA Project Space will launch its second gallery in the vibrant Komunuma district of Paris. This marks a significant step in the growth of the UAE-based gallery, currently located in Dubai.

Founder Veronika Berezina said, “I am delighted to be opening a space in Paris, one of the most important cities in the world for art, to support our artists and programme in Europe. This new gallery brings us closer to key relationships and will create a bridge between Paris and Dubai programmes, facilitating rich exchanges and dialogues.”

From the 8th of September to the 27th of October, the new space will host its inaugural exhibition featuring the works of Palestinian artist Mirna Bamieh, renowned for her socially engaged work. In this exhibition titled 'Sour Things', the artist delves into the politics of disappearance and memory by exploring themes of displacement, uprooting, and the loss of space.

“These works deal with grief, pain, and processing the uncontrollable,” Bamieh explains. “They invite reflection and create empathetic spaces. The Sour Things series has always been about processing big topics without providing answers, offering internal, psychic spaces of empathy.”

The Parisian branch of NIKA Project Space will continue to highlight the work of female artists, with Berezina reaffirming the gallery's commitment to showcasing the work and concepts of both emerging and established artists and curators from the Global South.

From October 17-20, 2024, NIKA Project Space will participate in Asia Now with a solo booth by Mirna Bamieh.
